Bits and Bobs

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

first read the Alchemist some time ago following a referral from a friend; it is a book about a young boy, a sheperd, who dreams of finding the biggest treasure of all and, for this, he travels from Spain to Africa where a fateful encounter with the alchemist awaits him.

The book is a journey in the human yearning for something bigger than ourselves, for fortune and treasures that we always seek in far away places when we can actually find them firstly and foremostly in ourselves.

The figure of the alchemist fascinated me and  inspired me to choose the name of my company ( The People Alchemist) as I loved the analogy and the process of transforming a “tired, unproductive workforce” into high performing, engaged advocates, “gold” for the organisation.
Alchemy was the "medieval forerunner of chemistry concerned with the transmutation of matter, in particular with attempts to convert base metals into gold “.

As you turn each and every page you'll find a little magic dust sprinkled all over it; you will feel inspired to listen to your heart, read the omens that you encounter along life's path and, above all, follow your dreams.

This is a book to be read, loved and passed on and here it is for you.
